Weekend Games

There are a couple challenging games for WCC teams this weekend. Undefeated SMC plays their first away game of the season at Boise St., who is 8-1 and 7-0 at home. And BYU (8-3) takes the long road trip to Utah, who is 8-1 overall and 8-0 at home.

It was probably one of the better games I’ve watched this season as SMC knocked off favored Boise St. 82-74 in Boise.  SMC was 12-23 shooting 3-pointers for the game and is now 8-0 on the season.  It was the first nonconference loss at home for BSU in three years.

BYU was totally dominated by Utah in Salt Lake City 81-64 despite being favored against a Utah team that is now 9-1.  Utah’s only loss this season was by 2 points to Boise St. in Boise a couple of weeks ago.

In other WCC action, USF seems to have recovered from the loss of Cody Doolin, beating Nicholls St. 77-48.  LMU led by 10 points at the half, but ended up losing on the road to Valpo, 80-73.   GU really had no problem with South Alabama in Seattle, 68-59, but it was a lot closer than expected.  

SCU and UOP were both victorious over non D-1 opponents in typical post-finals games.

With the way we have played post-finals recently, maybe we should try this scheduling option.    It's not a bad idea, really...

I noticed the game Montana state played before us was Walla Walla. Perhaps they did the same after their finals.

The WCC was 0-3 in post-finals action today:

Favored USD lost at home to UCSB, 72-61

Favored UP lost at home to MSU, 72-69

PU lost in Pullman to WSU, 78-61.
