I put this under Other Scores, as it truly is other scores. Last night after a long day and no internet connection, I open the SIS Soccer Scoreboard and saw this Portland 1- Gonzaga 1. My heart raced, my pulse went up and I shouted, OH NO! My wife came running from the other room, said Are you alright? Then I realized that on our home computer, I had not changed the year on the SIS Soccer Scoreboard from 2012 to 2013. It took me 2 hours before I could get to sleep. Good illustration of how being an avid Pilots fan can affect someone. But I should have known that they were not playing Gonzaga last night.

Today's opponent matches:

Central Mich v. Northern Illinois
Wake v. #1 Virginia
Marquette v. Georgetown - this match probably decides the Big East.
Oregon v. Arizona
Washington v. Colorado
Wyoming v. SDSU- no help in the RPI here...

Virginia scores in the 36th on Wake. ... 1-0

Marquette is up 2-0 on Georgetown late in the first.

Wake is now down 0-2

Marquette stretched it lead to 3:0 over Georgetown.

Penn State loses at home to Michigan. 1-0. Make up for the football loss yesterday.

Wyoming beat SDSU in the "it doesn't matter to us" bowl.

Both of the Oregons won by 1-0 results. I bet AZ state didn't see that coming after beating Stanford.

And, IIRC, tied us last year 1-1.

It looks like Stanford's problems continue.

Uhl and Campbell didn't start, and they are now down 0:1 to Cal with about 25 to go.

It's over. Cal wins.

Marquette ended Georgetown's undefeated season, too.

My bad. Stanford lost to Southern California, not Cal.

That makes it a pretty bad loss. USC was 5-6-1 going into the weekend.
Before tieing Cal and beating Stanford this weekend they had lost 4 straight and their best win was #89.

It may have been that "extra" day because I thought for sure that after enduring the Irish, that UVA would have their hands full with Wake. Apparently UVA is legitimate.

Didn't help that Stengel cannot play for Wake any more.

Wake fans appear to hold out hope Stengel can come back. I'm old. Nobody I know gets remission from blood clots in a few weeks. They have to be absorbed by the body and that takes time. In the worst cases I know, filters had to be implanted to prevent the clots from migrating to the heart and brain.

The main thing is that she recovers. She will hopefully have opportunities in the future to show her talents.

Recent story on the Wake website confirms Stengel is out for the year. the good news is a prognosis for full recovery.

Other scores of particular import to the Pilots at this stage of the season:

UW:  We want them to win as much as possible so they can move from their current URPI position (46) to a URPI position of 40 or better.

Missouri:  We want them to go on an absolute tear so they can move from their current URPI position (102) to a URPI position of 80 or better.

San Diego State:  We want them to win out all the way through the Mtn West tournament so they can move from their current URPI position (132) to a position of 80 or better.

Each of these moves would increase the Pilots' adjusted RPI bonus awards.

We also want Marquette to keep on winning. They currently are at #4 in the ARPI rankings, and the higher their rank the better off the Pilots will be if they stay in the range to receive a seed. (Currently, the Pilots are in the range of teams that could receive a #2 seed.)

And, of course, we always want all Pilot non-conference opponents to beat other teams since that helps the Pilots Strength of Schedule portion of the RPI.

The Vikings went undefeated in the Big Sky. Conference tournament will be November 7 & 9 at Hillsboro Stadium. The final is during the Pilots' home game but the semis are at 12:00 and 3:00.

Congrats to them. Lets hope they can punch it home this year in their tournament.
