D-III bragging

So for those of you that don't already know, I'm actually a student at Willamette University in Salem. I've kept my D-III pride in check for most of the season, but my Willamette Bearcats pulled out an incredible win over our archrivals, the Linfield Wildcats, last night. It's not often that one gets to see a real buzzer-beater win a game.

With the win, Willamette takes sole possession of third place in the Northwest Conference, and in the NWC, only the top three go to the conference tourney.

We stormed the court after the game and taunted the Linfield fans there with chants of "Just like football!" (For those of you that weren't aware, Willamette football beat #12 Linfield 33-32 earlier this season for our first win over them in eight years.) We also managed to procure a photo of Linfield's star player wearing a bra - God bless Facebook. He torched us for 24 points on 6-6 three point shooting but come on, the man was wearing a bra!

The reason why this is mildly Pilots related is because Linfield's play-by-play guy is none other than Darrell Aune, the former voice of the Pilots and the Oregon State Beavers. Classy guy all around.

Too bad he works for Linfield . . .

Aune is money, absolutely money.

Speaking of the WCC connections to local Division III schools, former USF coach Bob Galliard is the head man at Lewis & Clark, who played down here in Salem on Saturday (and lost).
