The WCC was 2-1 in WNIT play Thursday night:

SMC lost a heartbreaker, 74-73, after Eastern Michigan grabbed an offensive rebound and made the put-back with just 1.8 seconds left in the game.

USD won 69-65 despite Northwestern scoring 35 points in the 4th quarter.  The Toreros remain on the road and will play IUPUI on Saturday in Indianapolis.

GU thumped UC Riverside at home, 88-54.  The Bulldogs will stay at home and play the winner of the Montana St. vs. Utah game on Monday night.

SCU is done for the season after losing at Fresno State, 59-53.

The Broncos simply went cold for a lengthy time in the 4th quarter and turned the ball over too often.....

Both WCC teams in the NCAA Tournament are one-and-done!

The surprise winner of the WCC Tournament was not a surprise loser at Stanford this evening in a rude "welcome home" for the former Stanford All-America, Jennifer Azzi, the coach of #13 seed, USF.

A little more surprising was Missouri beating #7 seed BYU today, 78-69.  The Cougars were within 2 points with just over 4 minutes to play when the WCC Player of the Year, Lexi Rydalch, fouled out after scoring 22 points.''

However, USD is still alive in the WNIT after beating IUPUI in Indianapolis this evening, 59-48.  USD now moves on to the WNIT Sweet 16. USD, second to BYU in the WCC this year, is now 25-7 overall.

GU, who will play Utah in Spokane on Monday, and USD, who will play a tough/big Michigan team in Lansing on Tuesday, are the only WCC women's teams still alive in the postseason

GU is done for the season after losing to Utah on Monday evening, 92-77, in Spokane....a revenge of sorts for the Utah men's team being taken out by GU.

USD, the only WCC team left in the postseason, plays at Michigan tonight in a WNIT Sweet 16 game.

The postseason is over for the WCC women....

USD was pretty much blown-out by a very skilled and speedy Michigan team in Ann Arbor tonight, 78-51.

Pretty tough to beat a team that shot 58% from the field, including 58% from 3-point range (7/12).

USD ends the season 25-8, the second highest win total in program history.

Don't know how I missed this a couple of weeks ago, but one of my all-time favorite coaches in the WCC, JR Payne, has left the head coaching position at Santa Clara to take over at Pac-12 Conference Colorado.

Most women's hoops fans will remember JR best from her playing days at SMC ('99) and when she was an assistant to Kelly Graves at GU.

Moving with Payne to Colorado is her husband and associate head coach at SCU, Toriano Towns (SMC '98), and SCU assistant Shandrika Lee (PU '04).

Graves at UO and Payne at CU, Rueck and Rissmiller at OSU ....I'll be watching more Pac-12 basketball in the future.

Only two teams in the postseason in 2018.

Conference and tournament winner, GU, faces a tough NCAA first-round test at Stanford on Saturday. (ESPN2 @ 3pm)

SMC, a team the Pilots beat at home in late January, is off to Albuquerque to play New Mexico on Thursday as part of the WNIT.

Could be one-and-done for both WCC teams....

Despite scoring 50 points in the second half, SMC lost to New Mexico last evening in Albuquerque, 82-80.

SMC finished 2nd to GU in the WCC this season, and UNM was the 6th place team in the Mountain West Conference....

Just two years ago the WCC had 6 teams in the postseason, but this year they had 2, and with GU's 82-68  loss at Stanford today, the WCC was one-and-done....times 2. Evil or Very Mad

The WCC has 6 teams in the postseason this year: GU and BYU in the NCAA, and PU, UOP, LMU, and SMC in the WNIT.

Tonight, 3rd place PU had a strong second half on the road to beat the 2nd place team in the WAC, Cal Baptist, 91-79....a first-year D1 team.

Also tonight, 5th place UOP came from behind to down Fresno St. on the road, 77-72.

The 1st place team in the Big Sky, Idaho, beat the 6th place team in the WCC, LMU, 79-64 in a first round WNIT game in LA.

Idaho won the Big Sky regular season title with a record of 21-11 (16-4), but they lost the Big Sky Tournament and the automatic bid to PSU in their tournament.  #15 seed PSU plays #2 seed UO tomorrow.

The WCC's 3rd place team, SMC, beat Hawaii in Moraga tonight, 67-43, in a first round WNIT matchup.

Not sure why Hawaii was even in the WNIT after finishing 15-17, including 10-6 and 4th place in the Big Sky.

The Pilots beat the Rainbow Wahine, 72-65 in November.

In yesterday's NCAA Tournament action, #7 BYU beat #10 Auburn, 73-64, and #5 Gonzaga, without starting point guard Laura Stockton and backup guard Jill Townsend, both of whom suffered season ending knee injuries against BYU in the WCC Final, beat #12 Little Rock, 68-51.

Monday, Gonzaga will play #4 Oregon State in Corvallis, and BYU will be in Palo Alto to face #2 Stanford.

In WNIT play today Arizona eliminated UOP, 64-48, and PU outscored SMC 38-30 in the second half to blow-by the Gaels, 65-61

There were six WCC women's teams in the postseason, and now there's just one....

Tonight in the NCAA Tournament #5 GU lost at #4 OSU, 76-70, and #7 BYU lost at #2 Stanford, 72-63.

The one remaining team from the WCC is PU in the WNIT, and they'll play at Wyoming on Thursday night.
