Here's how to build a schedule Empty Here's how to build a schedule

CAL's schedule came out today.

http://www.calbears.com/sports/w-soccer/sched/cal-w-soccer-sched.html

The first 12 games are at home, then they play st Mary's away.
We are their last home game.

I'm envious.

Good this year, but how many of those games are home and home series which will mean a lot of road games next year.

Their home attendance avg was 400. I looked at Ewards Stadium-Goldman Field where they play. Not exactly an advantage? Its primary configuration is for Track and Field...with the pitch in the middle of the track. Do they put beachers on the in-field during the soccer season? Otherwise....it's crickets during matches with a crowd that small. It's a wonder how teams without soccer dedicated facilities are able to attract and sell their programs to recruits nowadays?

The Bears W-L record last year was Overall: 11-9-1, Conf: 4-5-0, Home: 7-4-0 Away: 3-5-1 Neut: 1-0-0. It'll be interesting to see whether they benefit from a schedule like that. Come tournament time, you gotta learn to play and win away...esp going in the finals.

GO PILOTS!!!

Here's how to build a schedule Empty Re. Selling Cal's program

Post by Guest Thu Jun 10, 2010 9:29 am

Many athletes want to go to Cal not only because of the soccer program but because of the doors a degree from Cal opens after graduation. Getting accepted to Cal is REAL TOUGH. And the price tag is a hard pill to swallow (~$30K/year for fees/books/room/board for in-state students).

Not to state the obvious, but many kids these days use their skills in sports to get into their school of choice and (if they're lucky) to help pay the bills.

Yah. Not doubt. Never questioned Cal's academic prestige. But UP has done a pretty darn good job recruiting some of the smartest soccer players in the country. And graduating them too. I've been very impressed during every Senior Night. The team as a whole and many individuals have been recognized for their academic achievements as student-athletes.

Huh...5 road games. I'm sure the RPI of the schedule is tough since it's the Pac-10, but, Lord...

Who knows, maybe a Colorado road game will be added... Hahahaha....

Here's how to build a schedule ... if you trust straw and sticks like some naive little pigs. Pilots: It's time to play the big bad wolf in Berserkeley.
