Games to watch Empty Games to watch

While we're busy pre-funking for Sunday's game, there are some games today that can affect the seedings.

#04 Purdue faces their second ranked opponent of the year in #13 Penn State. It'll be interesting to see how they do. The Eastern papers say Penn St. has found its form, then they stumbled against Minnesota last week. This is one of those where a Purdue win helps our RPI, a Penn St. win helps our seeding. I think I'm putting on my Nittany Lions cap on for this one.

#1 UCLA plays #09 USC. I'm not sure how I'm rooting on this one, but a UCLA win probably pushes a seeding rival further down the rankings.

An interesting first round of the weekend.

USC and Purdue, both ahead of UP in some polls, lost.

Purdue lost to Penn State, only the second ranked team they have met this year, and USC fell to UCLA, like everyone else but Texas this year (not counting ties).

In fact, 5 of the top 11 teams in the NSCAA poll lost, 4 of them to teams down the rankings

The seeding possibilities are looking sweeter----.

Go Pilots!!

Thanks for the updates, Geezer. If we can beat Santa Clara tomorrow, we should be sitting in a very sweet spot indeed!

It looks like the seeded teams could be UCLA, Texas A&M, North Carolina, and Portland, assuming that we win out and NC beats Virginia.

Actually they seed 8.

Those are the teams that stay home all through the playoffs, assuming there is a team within 350 miles for the first round. That's why we need Oregon, Wash. St, or Gonzaga to get a bid.

Still, the way the committee has jerked us around the last couple years, I don't want there to be any doubt that we should be one of the 8.

Games to watch Empty hmm

well, as soon as I wrote that, I realized all seedings aren't equal.

Four of the teams get all their games at home. 4 only get the final game at home if other seeds lose.
