Pilot volleyball recruit is AVCA Oregon Player of the week!

Sam Moore class of '11 volleyball recruit is selected as the AVCA player of the week. She is second in the state in kills, at all 6 levels, for the season.

Sam has committed to a scholarship for volleyball to the University of Portland.

The UP volleyball program certainly seems to be on the rise since the hiring of coach Houck; the team has been much more competitive this season, and recruiting seems to be on the uptick... but of course the WCC is brutally strong in volleyball, so we have a lot of ground to make up.

The team is currently in 6th place in the WCC standings (have we been above 7th or 8th in recent history?!) at 2-7, with a BIG road trip this weekend, @USF and @SCU, the teams currently in 5th and 7th place... a great chance to move up a spot.

I agree, they get more competitive each year! Can't wait to see how the recruits fit in....signing day is near!
